Homecoming Event for Reunion Year Alumni of BNUBS was Successfully Held

On the morning of September 20, the Commemoration Ceremony for Reunion Year Alumni Homecoming of Beijing Normal University (BNU) was held at Qiu Jiduan Gymnasium. Sun Zhijun, Secretary of BNUBS; Han Lili, Associate Secretary of the Party Committee of the School; and over 300 representatives of the School’s reunion year alumni from various classes attended the ceremony.

Prior to the ceremony, Cheng Jianping, Secretary of the BNU Party Committee, had a cordial meeting with the homecoming representatives of the School’s 1985 undergraduate reunion year alumni. He extended sincere greetings and briefly introduced the university’s development status. After the ceremony, Secretary Cheng Jianping and Zhang Yanyun, Associate Secretary of the BNU Party Committee, took a group photo with the 1985 alumni.

During the ceremony, Secretary Cheng Jianping also presented reunion year flags to alumni representatives who graduated 40, 30, 20, and 10 years ago. Wang Yan, an alumnus of the School’s 1995 cohort, received the flag as one of the representatives.

Wang Xiaohong, an undergraduate alumnus of the School’s 1995 cohort, delivered a speech as an alumni representative at the ceremony. She fondly recalled her school days and expressed gratitude to her alma mater and teachers for their meticulous cultivation. She noted that the school motto "Learn, so as to instruct others; Act, to serve as example to all," has profoundly shaped the conduct and demeanor of generations of BNU graduates. Over the past 30 years, although alumni have held different positions, they have always adhered to the sense of family and country, as well as the pragmatic style of BNU. She called on everyone to remain true to their original aspirations, practice the school motto, and live up to their alma mater, the times, and their beliefs.

The poetry recital BNU and You, in which Wang Zi (an undergraduate alumnus of the School’s 2015 cohort) participated, used sincere words to evoke the collective memories of teachers, students, and alumni present. The medley of songs including Morning on Campus, Traveling Everywhere, China in the Light, and My Motherland and I connected youth and the times with familiar melodies, pushing the on-site atmosphere to a climax.

Over 300 alumni from the School’s 1985, 1995, 2005, and 2015 cohorts, along with their family members, returned to their alma mater from across the country and around the world. The check-in area was filled with enthusiasm; alumni registered in an orderly manner and received event souvenirs and meal vouchers. The joy of reuniting after a long time was evident on everyone’s face.

After the commemoration ceremony, alumni enjoyed classic dishes from their memories at the campus canteen using specially designed nostalgic meal vouchers.

On the afternoon of the same day, a symposium for the 1985 undergraduate alumni of the School was held in Conference Room 9406 of Jingshi Building. Alumni and their former counselor Liu Songbai gathered to share memories, reminisce about their growth journey during their school days, and strengthen their bond. Meanwhile, the 3rd Session of the 3rd MBA Alumni Association Council of the School was successfully held in Classroom 101 of Teaching Building 3. Council members gathered to discuss topics such as alumni connection and resource sharing.

Prior to this event, the 1995 and 2005 undergraduate alumni of the School had separately organized reunion year homecoming symposia in July. At these symposia, they shared their growth experiences and insights over the years since graduation, revisited campus memories, and talked about the bond between teachers and students. Secretary Sun Zhijun and Associate Dean Jiang Jie attended these two symposia respectively.
