Time :2025-10-09

As the new semester kicks off, BNUBS has launched a series of orientation programs for the 2025 cohort of new students. These initiatives aim to help freshmen adapt to university life, guide them in fostering sound worldviews, outlooks on life, and values, inspire their patriotism and love for the university, and cultivate a harmonious, warm, healthy, and progressive campus cultural atmosphere.

Academic and Professional Education

To enable new students to gain in-depth insights into their academic disciplines and professional pathways, clarify their learning directions, and enhance their motivation for study, each class has carefully organized distinctive and practical professional education activities. Teachers provided systematic and comprehensive introductions to the freshmen from multiple dimensions, including program overviews, curriculum frameworks, teaching features, academic research, practical projects, and career prospects. By integrating real-world cases, they vividly illustrated the core content of the programs and effective learning methods, helping new students deepen their understanding of the connotation and development trajectories of their disciplines. Additionally, teachers shared practical advice on academic planning, guiding students to set clear learning goals. They also encouraged freshmen to make active use of the School’s resources, participate in academic exchanges and social practices, and continuously improve their comprehensive competencies. These activities have effectively strengthened new students’ recognition of and confidence in their chosen majors, laying a solid foundation for their future academic growth and career development.

Visit to the Memorial Museum of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression

To deepen patriotic education and inherit the “red gene”, on September 17, student representatives of the new cohort visited the Memorial Museum of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and viewed the large-scale exhibition “For National Liberation and World Peace”. By observing physical exhibits and historical images, the students systematically reviewed the arduous course of the Chinese people’s resistance against Japanese aggression from 1931 to 1945. The students expressed that they would transform the spirit of the War of Resistance into an internal driving force for forging ahead, integrate their patriotic feelings into their professional learning and research missions, and demonstrate the responsibility of the youth in the new era and new journey.

Visit to the University History Museum

To strengthen education on love for the university and sense of honor, and inherit the spirit of BNU, the School organized new students to visit the University History Museum in groups at different times. Guided by volunteers’ detailed and vivid explanations, the students gained insights into the connotation of the university motto “Learn to be a teacher; act as a model” through the university’s more than 120-year history of running education. From the hardships of the early founding period, to the perseverance in preserving the “torch of education” during the westward relocation in the War of Resistance, to the innovation and development in the new era—precious historical records, physical exhibits, and images deeply immersed the students in the university’s profound historical heritage and cultural legacy. This experience enhanced their sense of identity and belonging to the university, and strengthened their belief in aligning their personal growth with the development of the university.
