On September 3, 2025, a grand gathering was held in Beijing to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, with a grand military parade taking place in Tiananmen Square. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China, and Chairperson of the Central Military Commission, delivered an important speech and reviewed the troops being inspected.

Teacher Zhao Chunming from the BNUBS was invited to attend the ceremony on-site. Eleven students from the School directly participated in the service and support work for the gathering commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The School actively organized teachers and students to listen to and watch the commemorative gathering, and heatedly discussed General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech, so as to guide teachers and students to continue to inherit the great spirit of resistance against Japanese aggression and the great national spirit.

On-Site Observation · Filled with Passion

Professor Zhao Chunming, an Outstanding Teacher of Beijing, an Outstanding Communist Party Member of Beijing's Colleges and Universities, and a teacher of our School, was invited to attend the ceremony as an on-site observer, witnessing this historic moment that carries the nation's memory and the glory of the times.

I am very honored and excited to be a guest of honor at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War. This is not only a solemn and grand commemorative event, but also a profound historical education and spiritual baptism. As General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in an important speech, “To commemorate the great victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War is to remember history, cherish the memory of martyrs, value peace, and forge ahead into the future.” This military parade is the first one since China has fully advanced toward the new journey of Chinese modernization. When I witnessed the neat and uniform formations of the People's Liberation Army, the display of advanced weapons and equipment, and the fighter jet formations roaring past at the scene, I deeply felt the historic transformation of our country from being poor and weak to being prosperous and strong, and my heart was filled with immense national pride and a profound sense of responsibility for the times. "Justice prevails, peace prevails, and the people prevail." Although the smoke of history has dispersed, the spirit of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression will shine forever!

Volunteer Service · Dedicating Youth

Five students from our School– Zeng Yizhi, Wang Yuheng, Xu Zixuan, Wang Rui, and Xu Haoran – participated in the square chorus throughout the entire process. With their youthful singing, they injected vibrant youth power into the commemorative conference. Six other students from our School – Shi Huiyi, Liu Changyu, Zhao Jiawen, Zhang Jingqi, Wang Xuanyin, and Gao Kai – took part in the square volunteer service team for the whole duration, providing professional and warm support services.

As a member of the Square Choir for this Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, I feel extremely honored to stand on Tiananmen Square – the “heart of the motherland” – and sing a paean to the times for the martyrs who fought heroically in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, for the Communist Party of China, and for all Chinese people. “When the melody of On the Songhua River started playing – 'My home is on the Songhua River in Northeast China, where there are forests and coal mines...' – my thoughts were drawn back to that era of fierce wars. The cruel atrocities of the Japanese invaders unfolded before my eyes; tears welled up in my eyes, and a blazing anger ignited in my chest. Finally, all these emotions turned into a hoarse cry that echoes through the long river of history.The sixteen-character phrase – 'Remember history, cherish the martyrs, value peace, and forge ahead into the future' – is not only the theme of this commemorative event, but also the expectation and requirement of the Party and the country for all Chinese people. As a member of the Square Choir of Beijing Normal University, a member of the 3,000-person choir of colleges and universities in the capital, and a member of the 400 million Chinese youth in the new era, I deeply feel the great responsibility and mission on my shoulders. In my future study and life, I will take the school motto of Beijing Normal University – 'Learn, so as to instruct others; Act,to serve as example to all' – as my code of conduct, and write a life chapter that belongs to students of Beijing Normal University. As a volunteer, participating in the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti Fascist War is an extremely precious and meaningful experience in my life. When standing at the guidance post on Qianmen East Road, I saw the pride and excitement on the faces of the guests watching the ceremony, and heard the deafening sound of cannons, my heart was filled with surging emotions. This is not only a grand military parade, but also a profound historical review and spiritual baptism. In the process of participating in the activity, I deeply appreciate the arduous efforts made by our predecessors for the independence of the country and the dignity of the nation. They forged the great spirit of resistance with their blood and lives, crossing time and space, inspiring us to keep moving forward. By participating in this event, we will integrate our “self” into the current of national celebrations. The School organized teachers and students to watch the live broadcast of the commemorative conference collectively in Conference Room 1610 of the Rear Main Building on campus. Other teachers and students watched or listened to the broadcast independently through various means such as television, the internet, and radio.

I felt extremely honored to watch the Commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War together with teachers and students of the college in the Main Building (North). This conference not only demonstrates respect for history and remembrance of martyrs, but also serves as an important opportunity to collectively commemorate the cause of anti-fascism. It reminds us to draw wisdom and strength from the profound lessons of World War II and the great victory of the anti-fascist war. What struck me most was the weaponry and equipment on display during the parade. In addition to traditional main battle forces, new types of combat forces—such as unmanned intelligent systems, underwater warfare units, cyber-electronic defense and offense forces, and hypersonic weapons—were also arranged to participate in the review. From the big swords, spears, and locally-made guns and artillery during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression to today’s high-tech new weapons and equipment, as well as new combat forces featuring informationization and unmanned technologies, the leapfrog advancement of advanced combat capabilities demonstrates the brilliant achievements of China’s national defense modernization. By showcasing China’s advanced combat capabilities to the world, we are declaring to the world with our strength our ability to safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, and demonstrating China’s determination as a responsible major country to uphold justice and peace.
